Fresh produce a prime ingridient in a healthy lifestyle.

Q: How do I find out more about how to start on living foods and enzymes?

We are visual creatures, so we have designed a Live Food Preparation Class to teach you basic concepts of simple yet healing dishes that taste amazing! Many of your questions will be answered: such as how to put it all together and have it taste great, where to shop, what tools are helpful, and where/how to eat out. We also answer questions such as what type of salt, oil, water, and sweeteners are the best for you. We conduct our classes in Southern California. If you do not live in Southern California, we have available the Healthy Cell Workbook by Lou Corona, which includes healing nutritious recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner including dessert, a food combining chart and other helpful nutritional information!

Enzymes are an important part of our daily diet. They exist naturally in living foods and are destroyed when heated above approximately 112 degrees. If we have eaten cooked and processed foods during our lifetime than we definitely need enzyme supplements to assist the body in removing sludge and toxic build up from the body while aiding us in the ability to digest our food on a cellular level. Enzymes are not created equal. The best enzymes are pharmaceutical grade, full spectrum, highly active enzymes in vegetable capsules. We have a powerful line of enzymes which have assisted many people in recovering from major illnesses such as cancer, diabetes, crohn’s disease, and fibromyalgia to name a few. Enzymes are helpful for those who would like to increase their energy, better their bowel movements, re-balance the hormones, clear up the skin from breakouts and eczema, and many other symptoms. Q: Why is an Acid/Alkaline Balanced diet important?

The bodies pH should be slightly more alkaline than acid. Many illnesses have been linked to an overly acidic body pH. How do you know if your body is running excessively acidic? Here are some common symptoms to look for: acid reflux, fatigue, muscle stiffness, degeneration of skin and loss of natural hair color, arthritis, depression, headaches, gastritis, canker sores, constipation, irritability, constant colds or flu’s, and much more. When the body is overly acid, it creates an environment perfect for the proliferation of viruses, parasites, bacteria, and yeast. This is a major cause of our annual flu’s and colds along with zapping our energy. Studies have shown that cancer patients across the board had an overly acidic pH balance. Once the patients were placed on an alkaline diet, the cancer disappeared. At a pH slightly above 7.4 cancer cells become dormant and at pH 8.5 cancer cells will die while healthy cells will live. Our body’s pH should be approximately 7.4. Many other diseases have also been linked to an acid environment in the body.

The foods we eat have an acid or alkaline effect on our body and our blood. Stress can also increase the acidity of the blood causing us to become more susceptible to colds or flu’s that are a proliferation of viruses and bacteria which feed on the undigested toxins in the body. What foods are alkaline and which foods are acid? Most foods today in the SAD (Standard American Diet) are highly acidic. The American diet is full of animal proteins, processed sugars, highly refined white flour, eggs, dairy, pasta, coffee, table salt, cooked grains, toasted nuts and seeds, heated oils, cooked vegetables, concentrated fruit juices and bottled fresh squeezed fruit juices in a bottle. Why are bottled fresh squeezed juices acid? The companies still pasteurize the juice before they place it in the refrigerated section at the store. Pasteurization changes the make up of the juice from alkaline to acid. The best source is to make your own juice and drink it soon after you make it. Other acid forming foods include sodas, pharmaceutical drugs, concentrated vitamins, alcohol, smoking, and unclean air. Alkaline foods are primarily those left in their natural state. To shift to alkaline foods and an alkaline body, eat fresh fruits and vegetables, sprouted seeds and nuts, cultured foods and nuts, sea veggies, sprouted grains, Himalayan salt/sea salt, and stone ground olive oil. Since the body’s pH is slightly alkaline (7.365 pH), this tells us that a majority of the foods we eat must be on the alkaline side in order to bring our pH and health in to balance. How do you find out what your pH is? Go to your local health food store to the vitamin department and ask for pH strips. Use the strips to test your saliva or urine upon waking in the morning and before bed. Use the colored scale on the side of the box to find your pH. This will give you your average pH. For best results, test throughout the day. How does our body become too acidic? Diet is the major factor. A diet that is too high in acid forming food will cause the body to become too acidic. And what are acid forming foods? Sadly, the typical American diet of high protein flesh foods, high sugar, high fat, low complex carbohydrates is acid forming. Meat, fish, poultry, eggs, dairy, white sugars, flour products, pasta, breads, most cooked grains, most beans, most nuts, candy, soda, coffee, tobacco, alcohol, chemical additives, preservatives, drugs, and synthetic vitamins are all acid forming. How do we get our bodies at the right Ph balance and create an internal environment that is slightly alkaline? We can do this by eliminating acid producing foods, and eating a diet that is high in raw fruits and vegetables. I say raw because when you cook food it makes it more acidic. When you eat a diet that is made up of raw fruits, vegetables, sprouted nuts, seeds and grains you will begin to shift that acid state, to a more alkaline state.

Q: What is your daily diet like?

We eat very simply. We start our morning with a fresh lemon ginger blast, then on to an almond yogurt & fruit smoothie. Lunch consists of salad with sprouted sunflower seeds. We also blend the seeds with veggies and spices to make a pate of your choice (curry, cumin, garlic, sea veggies, etc.) For dinner we make a vegetable & protein rich cold soup. Fresh green juices are a staple also.

Q: Where do you get your Protein?

You want bio-available protein not just any protein. A great source of bio-available protein is soaked and germinated nuts and seeds (almonds, sunflower seeds, flax seeds, pumpkin seeds). The value is in what percentage you absorb not the quantity you eat. Increase you absorption rate by adding digestive enzymes to your daily routine along with living foods. I am a personal trainer and have lived on living foods for 2 1/2 years and maintain my muscle mass. I workout, mountain bike, roller-blade, and anything else I can think of.

Q: Are there side effects to enzymes?

No, there are no negative side effects. However, if you have a lot of cleaning up to do, then the bodies reaction may cause diarrhea, break outs, nausea, and head aches. These enzymes are powerful detoxifiers so back off a little if you experience too much discomfort. Then work your way up to 5 before each meal starting with only 1 before each meal.

Q: Is there ever a time a person should not take enzymes?

Multiple digestive enzymes should not be taken by someone who has an ulcer and crohn's because of the active Protease Enzyme that breaks down Protein to amino acids. Gastric Digestive Enzymes can be use during this condition.
